Volunteer Positions

From Scripture Advocate

The general volunteer positions at a local outreach will require much less time than the staff volunteer positions. Some will have little or no time directly involved with guests. Therefore, volunteers can have a less stringent interview process and need only be in agreement with the first three points of the simplified statement of faith.

Volunteers who are able to work with people / children might want to choose a specific family or child and focus on helping that one individual. This will help minimize being exhausted by trying to help the entire campus as well as give that child some regular individual attention.

Volunteers should be given some training on learning to work with children, counseling from a believer's viewpoint, how to be humble and act as a servant, and how to recognize spiritual activity. Both volunteers and staff should be able to ask guests how they are doing in a caring, friendly, and non-condemning way.

Staff and volunteers are expected to be role models while on outreach property or while doing outreach duties. Therefore, please be modest in clothing and appearance at all times. Tight and immodest clothing is inappropriate in a mission / outreach type of environment.

Volunteers can also help by bringing or helping to prepare meals. This saves on food costs for guests trying to save up money for a down payment on a house or apartment.
