New page

There is much to be gained by learning from others that have gone before us. Over the years, I have benefited from visiting various 'headquarters' and learning how their operation works and how they focus their goals. The Encouraging Life Children's Mission is an eclectic mix of these things including:

=== Activities for Children ===
One organization focuses on giving children physical activities as well as education both to help round out their life and to help them use up energy before sitting down to lessons. These activities can teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and other qualities while being fun.

=== Supporting Others ===
One organization exists to support other organizations that are helping children locally ... but they focus only on international groups and do not work within the United States borders.

=== Fighting Poverty ===
Another organization helps a lot of children and has the particular focus of fighting the effects of poverty.

=== Handouts and Materials ===
A health related organization produces a massive amount of colorful handouts, cards, quizzes, videos, and other useful materials to reach a wide audience in different formats.

=== Persecution ===
One missionary organization focuses on helping the persecuted ... although not so actively within the United States where persecution is on the rise.

=== Christian College Courses ===
Continuing education courses (like counseling) can be useful. However, caution must be used to avoid secular techniques even in Christian colleges.

=== Ministries to the Homeless ===
Of course, there is no better training than doing the real thing. Regularly helping at a soup kitchen, or assisting a homeless ministry and learning firsthand what it is like dealing with both the successes and failures is unparalleled in preparing a person to do it themselves.
